Drugs & Firearms
The Australian judicial system views drug offences very seriously. There are a range of offences relating to drugs including but not limited to:
- trafficking, selling and cultivating drugs;
- manufacturing drugs;
- importing and exporting drugs, and
- possession of illegal drugs.
Within the state of New South Wales, drug offences are mostly dealt with under the Drug Misuse and Trafficking Act 1985 (NSW).
Penalties for drug offences can vary widely based on which offence is committed, the quantity of drug involved, and whether there are any mitigating factors or legal defences available.
